Good Question: What’s Behind the Spike in Child Poverty in the U.S.?

https://apple.news/AgecFh8HzT92OW4gF6hGdDQ

While the very, very rich have been amassing gross amounts of lucre that couldn’t possibly be spent in their lifetimes (unless buying Twitter or flying to space in search of eternal “being-ness”), governments worldwide have been starving children. Policies created by power-hungry politicians, like Joe Manchin, have left children with their education and basic needs unfunded. The leaders who have taken over our institutions are not only amoral, but also unable to function in their own governance. The minority that currently controls the financial, political, media, and judicial systems are doing everything possible to prevent democracy from growing and the only solution is a tidal wave of voters in future elections. More power to GOP-hated leaders like Taylor Swift and Travis Kelcie and their drive to encourage voters to register and make their voices heard.

A Break Down of Thought Disorders and Signs of Recognition

https://www.sportskeeda.com/health-and-fitness/a-break-down-thought-disorders-signs-recognition?key4=flipboardhealthfitness

This is an adept layperson’s guide to thought disorders. Please don’t use it for self-diagnosis or diagnosing others, leave that to professionals. But it is a good place to start if you recognize mental health issues in yourself or those around you.

The No. 1 key to a happier, longer life—'that younger people don't' know, according to the oldest and 'wisest' Americans

Eight Ways to Banish Misery

https://apple.news/AS-BRXi5cRsuRSUAm95xLkw

This article has a wealth of information based upon the insights of Nobel Prize winner, Betrand Russell. There is a lot to uncover here and my favorite author (Arthur C. Brooks) from my favorite reading source, “The Atlantic,” is well-suited to peel back the layers of Russell’s insights in an understandable—and somewhat brief—manner.

The Red Pill of Humility

This second Arthur C. Brooks article from The Atlantic is based upon the Matrix concept of the Red Pill and the Blue Pill, Neo’s choice of reality or blissful unconsciousness.

Adults have a lot to say about book bans — but what about kids?

https://www.npr.org/2023/10/04/1203277224/kids-on-book-bans-during-banned-books-week

Thank you, NPR, for taking the time to view the adult idiocy of book banning from a child’s perspective, after all, they are the long-term victims here. When children do not have access to alternative and diverse opinions, they become closed-minded fundamentalists. But then again, what other kind of people do MAGA followers and Conservative Evangelicals desire in their dystopian view of the future?

Emotional Intelligence: The Skill That May Be More Important Than IQ in Achieving Success

https://www.rd.com/article/what-is-emotional-intelligence/

For decades, research has shown us that people who have the most well-being and influential lives are people who have had assistance developing their Emotional Quotient. Even with the most rigorous standards of education, IQ is nearly impossible to raise by even a few points. Alternatively, increasing EQ is almost limitless.
