The death of Jimmy Carter is significant to the world. A man of quiet action and compassion, consistent service and dignity.
Song of the Week
Jimmy Carter; The Measure of This Man
The newest compilation that I am completing is about people who have consistently stood for human rights around the world. Please take a moment to listen to this song about President Jimmy Carter and reflect upon what we are missing in politics today; the quiet actions that led towards peace, human voting rights, global health, and environmental awareness. There was no braggadocio in this man of quiet action. Unlike many politicians today, President Carter showed that, “if you have to tell people you are the leader—you are not!”

A timeline of former President Jimmy Carter’s life and career
Yes he was a President, a Governor, and won the Nobel Peace Prize, but Jimmy Carter will probably be most remembered for his life of humble service after his presidency.

Resolve to resist
This pro-LGBTQ+ magazine discusses the trials all of us will face in an administration more concerned about gender-specific bathrooms than about children’s deaths in schools. It points out ten things we can all do to resist the Christian Taliban’s efforts to undermine human rights in the US and elsewhere.

Historian Reveals The 3 Signs A Political Revolution Is About To Happen — And The Ones We’ve Already Seen In America
This is a history lesson the Far Right is definitely NOT going to want you to see. An excellent examination at what—historically—leads to a revolution and if the “Rebumblecons” don’t come to their senses, this is what they will usher in. Please take a moment to look at the three primary precursors to a revolution that this historian highlights and her explanations why the USofA is so ripe for one.

The Power of Resilience
Resilience is a learned trait and (as this article points out) it is the result of failure turned into growth. Resilience is a learned response—not an automatic response. Do you know someone who is good at turning failure into resilience? Ask them to coach you… and, if this is something you are adept at, coach and mentor others. Young people, especially, need to know that making mistakes does not equal failure, we only fail when we cease to learn and draw knowledge from our shortcomings. It is natural to want to quit when you’ve fallen down, to withdraw, or cease striving. But, it is at those moments of disappointment in our lives that we are also at the point of optimal growth. Creating a practice of growing from defeat is self-perpetuating.

The California Job-Killer That Wasn’t
As a number of States look at raising the minimum wage this coming year and the GOP continues its war on economic fairness. It is important to look at the numbers of what results a higher minimum wage actually has on a State’s economy. Conservative economists predicted the rise in wages in California would result in a loss of businesses and jobs, in reality, the opposite was true. Higher minimum wages resulted in a broad-based rise in worker retention, which lowered hiring and training costs for companies allowing them to put money elsewhere and increase profit margins. Actual reviews of numbers like this needs to be shouted from the rooftops because, be assured, conservatives are shouting their non-research based theories as loudly as they can. Fairness in the workplace is an economic springboard and economic policy should be based on fact, not opinion and conjecture.

The New Ugly American
This article gives a succinct history into the term, “Ugly American,” and the changes the term is experiencing as the blowhard Regime of 45 and his minions start laying out their plans for taking over Greenland, Panama, Canada, and Mexico. As an ex-pat who lived in Canada and now in Mexico, I’m very aware of the bad reputation the people from the US have abroad. I’m concerned how this will only worsen with the mindless words of the “Rebumblecons” and the authoritarian they blissfully adore (45 or Musk—you pick which one you want to insert there).
